The Touch of the Master’s Hand
Adapted from the original poem by Myra Welch
Modified lyrics and music by Julie Baird
© 2007 Julie Baird

It was battered and scarred
And the auctioneer thought it scarcely worth his while
To waste any time on the old violin
But he held it up with a smile.
“What is this worth to you,” he cried.
“Who’ll start the bidding for me?
A dollar, a dollar, now who’ll make it two?
Two dollars, and who’ll make it three?

Three dollars once, three dollars twice,
Going for three,” but no!
From the back of the room a gray haired man
Came forward and picked up the bow.
Then wiping the dust from the old violin
And tightening up the strings.
He played a melody pure and sweet,
As sweet as an angel sings.

The touch of the master’s hand
On the old violin
He played a melody pure and sweet
As sweet as an angel sings.

The music ceased, and the auctioneer
In a voice that was quiet and low
Said, “What’s now the bid for the old violin?”
And he held it up with the bow.
“A thousand dollars, and who’ll make it two?
Two thousand, and who’ll make it three?
Three thousand once, three thousand twice,
And going and gone,” said he.

The people cheered, but some of them cried,
“We do not quite understand
What changed its worth?” And the man replied,
“The touch of the master’s hand.” His hand.
If you’re battered and scarred
And your life’s out of tune
Come learn of His plan so grand.
Learn the worth of your soul
And the change that will come
By the touch of the Master’s hand.

The touch of the Master’s hand,
When your life is out of tune.
Come learn of His plan
And the change that will come
By the touch of the Master’s hand.
By the touch of the Master’s hand.

His Tender Care
Lyrics and music by Julie Baird
© 2007 Julie Baird

Whenever I feel tired, alone or scared,
I pray that He will bless me with His tender care.
His hands reach to help me, and gently dry my tears.
His arms then enfold me as they push aside my fears.
And His shoulders bear my burdens when I’m weighed down with sin.
His smile fills my heart and lets the sunshine in.

His care is tender. His hope is bright and sure.
His peace is the cure. His love is warm and pure,
And tender.

Whenever I feel hurt, confused or sad,
His tender care cheers my soul and makes me glad.
His ears always listen and hear my heartfelt pleas.
His feet run towards me when I pray on bended knees.
And His Spirit whispers softly and tells me what to do.
His eyes fill with tears and say, “I love you.”

Chorus
Tender, sure, my cure, pure.
His love is tender.

Encircled
Lyrics and music by Julie Baird
Vocalist: Summer Naomi Smart

A tear just beneath the surface. A sigh barely held inside.
An ache that swells beyond measure. A hurt that has no place to hide.
I plead for the Lord to hear me. I long for His healing grace.
I yearn for Him to be near me. I pray to feel His warm embrace.

Then I’m encircled in His arms, and my heartache fades away.
Encircled in His arms, night gives way to day.
Encircled in His arms, my sorrows find release.
And encircled in His arms, His tender love brings peace.

So many times, so many hours, I've been blessed by heaven's power.
So many times, so many days, I've felt His love and learned His ways.
Encircled in His arms, enveloped by His care.
Enfolded in His love, empowered when He's there—and He's always there.

Encircled in His arms, my heartache fades away.
Encircled in His arms, night gives way to day.
Encircled in His arms, my sorrows find release.
And encircled in His arms, His tender love brings peace.

Encircled in the arms of His love.
Encircled time and time again from above.
I’m encircled in the arms of His love.

Who is He
Lyrics and music by Julie Baird
Vocalist: Jeff McLean

Who is He, this man who’s more than man?
Who is He, who loves me as I am?
Who is He, Lord of Lords, Prince of Peace, King of Kings?
Who is He who brings healing in His wings?

Who is He, who walked among the poor?
Who is He, who lives forever more?
Who is He, Wonderful, Counselor, Chosen Son?
He’s the one to whom you and I should run.

For, He is my Savior; He is my friend.
And He is my Redeemer whose love never ends.
Yes, He is my Savior; He died for me.
He is my Redeemer, and with Him I will live eternally.

Simply knowing who He is, that’s just the beginning.
Becoming as He is; that’s a prize well worth winning.

Yes, He is my Savior; I’ll be His friend.
I will follow His example and be faithful to the end.
Oh, He is my Savior; I’ll live for Him.
I will serve as He did; then someday I will live with Him again.

Help From a Heavenly Friend
Lyrics and music by Julie Baird
Vocalist Jenny Jordan Frogley

Dear Father, there’s so many I know
Whose burden of care is so hard to bear.
There’s many I know who struggle and fear,
Wondering inside if heaven is near.

I’ll do my best to help in any way I can
And be an instrument in Thy hands.
But some problems are bigger than I alone can mend,
And I’ll need some help from a heavenly friend.

In their quiet hours of sorrow and pain,
Would Thou quench their inner thirst with heaven’s gentle rain?
Would Thou dry the tears I’ll never see,
And help them know on bended knee
That Thou art there; Thou art the way.
The prayers they say are heard today.

Dear Father, there’s the sick and the poor,
And children whose homes are shattered by war.
There’s hunger and sin, temptations within;
Trials each day, and loved ones who stray.

Chorus

And because I know that help will come I’ll testify to everyone.
When your life is filled with hardship and pain,
Help is just a prayer away when you call upon His name.
He will give you strength to make it through and tenderly encircle you
Until you know you’re not alone. Your heavenly friend will help you home.

Dear Father, there’s so much to mend.
I’m grateful for help from a heavenly friend.

One By One
Lyrics and music by Lynn and Julie Baird
Arranged by Julie Baird
Vocalist: Crystal Theriault

Do you wonder how you’d feel if you had been there
When the Savior of the world knelt in humble prayer;
When He placed His tender hands on every child’s head,
And He blessed them one by one after rising from the dead.

Can you think of how you’d feel when the angels came,
When fire, holy fire, filled the sky.
Can you think of how you’d feel when the Savior held you close,
One by one, you and I.

Oh I think my heart would burn, my soul it would yearn
To fall and worship Him and praise His name again.
And my tears would freely flow. I’d beg Him, “Please, don’t go.”
I would kiss His wounded feet. Hosannas I’d repeat.

And I know just how I’d feel when the angels came.
When fire, holy fire, filled the sky.
And I know just how I’d feel when the Savior held me close,
One by one, you and I.

One by one, the Savior healed that day.
One by one, the lame walked away.
One by one, they touched His wounded side.
And one by one, sweet tears He cried.

Now one by one, He calls us to obey;
Learn His word and walk in His way.
If we choose to follow Him each day,
Then one by one He’ll take us home to stay.

And I’m anxious for the day when He comes again.
When fire, holy fire, fills the sky.
And I’m anxious for the day when the Savior holds us close,
One by one, one by one, you and I.

The Carpenter of Nazareth
Adapted from George Blair’s “The Carpenter of Nazareth”
Modified lyrics and music by Julie Baird
Vocalist: Barry Hansen

In Nazareth, a narrow road
That’s steep and steals the breath.
Winds past the place where once abode
The Carpenter of Nazareth.
And up and down the dusty way
The village folk would wend.
And on the bench, beside Him lay
Their broken things for Him to mend.

The child with the doll she broke.
The woman with her chair.
The man with broken plough or yoke
Said, “Can you mend it, Carpenter?”
And each received the thing he sought
In plough or chair or doll.
The broken thing each one had brought
Returned again a perfect whole.

O Carpenter, dear Carpenter,
Please mend these things for me.
O Carpenter, sweet Carpenter,
My thanks I give to thee.

Now up the hill, the long years through
I join in step close by.
My burdened soul its way pursues
While uttering this heartfelt cry:
“O Carpenter of Nazareth,
I’m broken past repair.
My life is shattered nigh to death,
O can you mend me, Carpenter?”

Then with His kind and loving hand
He reaches out to me.
And lifts me up so I can stand
Then fall and worship on my knees.
He heals my wounded, broken heart
With His unselfish death.
And gives to me a fresh, new start—
The Carpenter of Nazareth.

O Carpenter, dear Carpenter,
Please mend my life for me.
O Carpenter, sweet Carpenter,
My thanks I give to thee.

My thanks and praise, to thy blest name
I’ll sing eternally.

He Loves You
Lyrics and music by Julie Baird
Vocalists: Summer Naomi Smart and Daniel Beck

I’ve heard all my life that my Savior loves me.
I’ve been taught I’m His child for eternity.
But sometimes I wonder, at times I don’t know.
Does the Lord love me? How can I know?
Can He love me when I doubt? Will He love me when I fear?
Can He love me when my vision is cloudy and unclear?
I’m not sure He loves me when trials come my way.
And will He love me if I wander and stray?
Can I really know the Lord loves me?

When you’re feeling so unsure, and questions fill your mind,
Stop and take a look around, sweet answers you will find.
Wildflowers and rainbows speak of His love.
Stars in the night sky confirm He’s above.
And then think of the garden and His suffering there;
And remember the empty tomb, and you’ll know He cares.
He loves you when you doubt. He loves you when you fear.
He loves you when you’re far away then gently draws you near.
He loves you.

(Sing both parts together)

I’ve heard all my life that my Savior loves me.
Now I know I’m His child for eternity.
I know that He loves me when I doubt and I fear.
I know that He loves me when my vision’s unclear.
I know that He loves me when trials come my way.
And I know that He loves me when I wander and stray.
I know, yes I know, He loves me.

As Lord of My Life
Lyrics and music by Julie Baird
Vocalist: Jessie Clark Funk

As Lord of my life, He’s there every day.
As Lord of the journey, He shows me the way.
As Lord of the harvest, He gives all I need.
As Lord and Redeemer, I follow His lead.

Lord, Lord of my life.

As Lord of the blind, He gives me new sight.
As Lord of the seeking, He fills me with light.
As Lord of the wandering, He reaches my soul.
As Lord of the broken, He makes me whole.

Lord, Lord of my life.
He’s Lord of my heart, He’s Lord of my soul, He’s Lord of my life.

I Love the Lord
Lyrics and music by Lynn Baird
Arranged by Julie Baird
Vocalist: George Dyer

I love the Lord; to Him I’ll always bend.
He is my King. He loves me to the end.
My heart swells wide for my Savior, my Redeeming Friend.
I love the Lord; to Him I’ll always bend.

I love the Lord; He’s done so much for me.
He took my pain and died on Calvary.
He shed His blood, His ransom in Gethsemane.
I love the Lord for all He’s done for me.

I love the Lord; I’ll praise Him all my days.
I’ll spread His word in all I do and say.
I’ll live my life to show the world He is the way.
I love the Lord; I’ll praise Him all my days.

I love the Lord; my precious, precious Lord.

Amazing Grace
Lyrics by John Newton (verse 1) and Julie Baird (verses 2 & 3)
Folk song, arranged by Julie Baird
Vocalist: Crystal Theriault

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost, but now I’m found.
Was blind, but now I see.

At times I stumble, trip and fall.
At times I go astray.
But through His steady, gentle call,
He brings me home to stay.

I know that my Redeemer lives!
He helps me to the end.
What hope and joy this knowledge gives.
He lives, my heavenly friend.

Amazing grace! Amazing love!
That leads to heaven above.
